Conferences

Parenting:
    • Love and Logic – best parenting resource I’ve encountered – conferences and books for all ages (preschool, gradeschool, teens) and conferences as well.
Marriage:
    • Mark Gungor’s Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage conference or DVD series
    • WinShape – has programs for every stage of marriage including premarital – to prepare, strengthen, and save
    • Retrouvaille – is a free conference for marriages in crisis that has had wonderful success
    • National Institute of Marriage – They have conferences and resources but they also have Crisis intervention for marriages on their last leg. The Couples Intensives for marriages in crisis – I HIGHLY recommend the group intensive even though it may sound scary to you, it is MUCH better than the one-on-one. You can read about what it is like in this book about that experience.
    • All resources by Gary Smalley are excellent – sex, premarital, marriage, parenting, etc.

Books

General / workplace:
    • Crucial Conversations – This book covers a lot  and it is one of the best I’ve read on conflict resolution!
    • DNA of Relationships and Two Sides of Love (which covers the personality types) by Dr. Gary Smalley (and Dr. John Trent). All resources by Gary Smalley are excellent – sex, premarital, marriage, parenting, etc.
    • Forgive for Good by Dr. Fred Luskin (Stanford University research)
    • What Happy People Know by Dan Baker – He also writes What Happy Companies Know.
    • Five Languages series of books by Dr. Gary Chapman including, Five Love Languages, Five Languages of Apology, Five Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace and resources to help with marriage, kids, and teens.
    • All resources by Shaunti Feldhahn – business, marriage, male/female relationships, etc.
    • Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
Marriage:
    • DNA of Relationships for Couples (Note – there is a DNA of Relationships which is also good) This is a fiction story about four couples who go to counseling. The book is realistic, addresses issues many face – such as adultery, the loss of a child, overbearing spouses, etc. It also has moments where it helps you apply the material to your situation.
    • Marriage 911 – this series is for individuals who need help as well as people trying to offer help to those with struggling marriages.
    • For Women Only and For Men Only – easy reads that are insightful about how to connect well. All resources by Shaunti Feldhahn – business, marriage, male/female relationships, etc.
Parenting:
    • Love and Logic – best parenting resource I’ve encountered – has books for all ages (preschool, gradeschool, teens) and conferences as well.
